Student identification

The fingerprint itself isn’t stored but instead a map of key points which is then hashed (one way encryption) and securely stored. Its use is opt-in only so an alternative is required and we would recommend using a QR code. Parental consent can also be obtained and managed through the app.

Pre-ordering facility

Via the app a parent/carer can browse the menu and pre order, they can also allow the student to pre order and amend selections. Pre orders can be viewed and modified in the backend to support missing orders and substitutions.

Account top up

The primary method to pay money is via the app which supports major credit cards, Apple Pay (iOS only) and Google Pay. A top-up is an ad-hoc payment made by a parent to a child’s account. The payment details are associated to the individual parent/guardian and the purse to a child. An automatic top-up (if enabled) triggers when a child’s purse drops below a certain amount, set by the parent/guardian

Ongoing support

Chat, email and phone support is available, managed via our ticketing system. However, being truly cloud based helps a lot and with multiple fallbacks, in the event of an issue there’s usually a plan B or beyond, e.g. EPOS offline mode and web payments.
